Protect Trans Kids

I wish that I could sue the Republican Party, every Republican State, every individual Republican politician, and the Southern Baptist Convention, for interfering in the lives of transgender children. Not just the kids today but for ALL of the transgender children for the last 60÷ years.

Blockers and hormones were not available to me when I was 10… or even 16. I had to endure an adolescence and puberty I didn't WANT because there were only one or two clinics in the entire country treating transgender kids, with very strict requirements about who qualified for treatment. As a result, I had to work three times as hard as an adult to 1) access care, 2) get the right care, and 3) afford care. These hurdles made life that much harder than my Cisgender neighbors, and meant that I would spend a good portion of my life focused on something that could have been settled before I even turned 18. And, conservative attitudes, conservative Christians and politicians are to BLAME!

The transgender children of today need our support and protection. They need access to doctors and quality care. They need blockers. They need hormones. And, they need to be allowed to assimilate, trans girls with girls and trans boys with boys.

What they DO NOT need is deterrence therapy, to be taken away from their parents, to be verbally and physically abused, or to be denied access to care. Those who are enacting legislation targeting transgender children are the worst kind of cruel. They know they are causing harm but they simply don't care. It's easier for…
